Integrating Literacy Strategies Across the Curriculum for Middle and High School Teachers
(Adolescent Literacy Across the Curriculum: Summer)
The goal of this online course is to create life-long readers who are empowered as independent learners. Participants will learn strategies that promote and support adolescent literacy in the contemporary
urban classroom. In addition, participants will identify the specific academic, linguistic, and social needs of English Language Learners. They will implement strategies to individualize instruction
in order to make specific subject content more accessible to students. The needs of unmotivated and special needs students will be considered. NYC ELA middle and HS standards are specifically addressed.
